The mechanic, in plain English
When you book a hotel through IMPT.io, three things happen. You get the hotel at a market-competitive price. The platform takes a small commission, as any booking platform does. And from that commission, IMPT pays for one tonne of carbon credits — about 28× the carbon footprint of an average hotel night — and writes the offset to the public blockchain so anyone can verify it. The traveller pays no extra for any of this.
Why on-chain
Voluntary carbon markets have a credibility problem. Credits get sold twice, retired late, or attached to projects that quietly underdeliver. Putting the offset on-chain — with the project, the vintage, and the retirement transaction publicly readable — closes that loophole for our part of the supply chain.
What we've built around it
- IMPT Token — the unit that ties together travel, partner shopping, and offset accounting.
- IMPT Card — a Mastercard/Visa debit card so the same offset mechanic applies to everyday spend.
- IMPT Shop — a marketplace of 20,000+ sustainable brands, where every purchase contributes to the offset pool.
- AI Hotel Booking (next) — a single conversation that handles discovery, comparison, booking, and the offset.
Who uses it
Travellers who would have booked anyway and like the idea of leaving the trip net-positive. Retailers who want a credible offset narrative without standing up their own programme. Corporates with travel-policy ESG requirements. The early signal is from individuals; the bigger signal will be partnerships.
